BLOOD represents and nourishes the body’s STRUCTURE/FORM. Blood is a dense, structural form of Qi. Blood is responsible for the nourishment and lubrication of skin, vessels, bones, sinews, hair, and all the organs and tissues. Blood nourishes Qi. Blood is Yin in nature.
When there is too much, or an EXCESS OF BLOOD, the body may react with symptoms of an overproduction of blood, causing heat, forcing the blood to overflow from its normal pathways. This will cause excessive bleeding and/or thick/coagulated/clotted blood.
Here are some examples of Meridians which have been overflowed with an Excess of Blood:
Nose bleeds-Lung, Stomach and/or Liver Meridian
Bleeding gums- Stomach and/or Kidney Meridian
Bleeding under the skin- Spleen Meridian
Uterine/Menstrual heavy bleeding- Kidney and/or Spleen Meridian
Blood in semen/ejaculation- Liver and/or Kidney Meridian
Vomiting with blood- Stomach and/or Liver Meridian
Blood in stools- Large Intestine, Small Intestine and/or Stomach Meridian
Blood in urine- Kidney, Heart and/or Liver Meridian
In order to balance a Blood Excess, it is advisable to AVOID foods that promote and tonify Blood.
