YIN represents the body’s STRUCTURE/FORM. Yin is calming, lubricating and
cooling in nature.
*add "Yin Deficiency” pic
When there is not enough, or a DEFICIENCY of YIN, the body may react with
NOT ENOUGH Cold/Coolness-an inability to cool itself-as in hot flashes or night
sweats *These “flushes” of heat are not due to an excess of heat in the body, but are
akin to heat caused by FRICTION due to LACK OF LUBRICTION—like an engine
running with no oil.
NOT ENOUGH Contraction-a slowing of drainage processes and the removal of the
NOT ENOUGH Lubrication/Moisture-A lack of body fluids and dryness. Due to this
dryness, FLOODING(water retention/dampness) may occur. This excess of
water/dampness is not due to too much lubrication, but is akin to FLOODING– -like
a dry desert after a rainfall….the ground is TOO DRY to absorb the water, leading to
flooding of water/fluids.
NOT ENOUGH Relaxation-Running on “back-up” energy
NOT ENOUGH Sleepiness-Problems staying asleep, or having to stay up very late to
get a good nights rest
NOT ENOUGH Body Structure/Form-Degenerative or structural deteriorations
NOT ENOUGH Blood-insufficient production of blood
Note: It is common for people with Yin Excess to also have symptoms of Yang Excess
In order to balance a Yin Deficiency, it is advisable to EAT foods that promote and
